Hi, my name is Kitaro.

You may know me from YouTube, where I teach and talk about breathwork, movement, and other things. I was a very shy and insecure kid growing up and never would have imagined exposing myself to the degree I am now, let alone teaching someone anything.

But when I started practicing traditional martial arts as a teenager, things started to change. I learned ancient techniques to harness the power of conditioning, breathing, meditation, and movement.

Through practice, I learned that things are not set in stone; I can learn, grow, and transform. And I could apply those principles to other fields, like my social life, school, and career. Later, I discovered modern breathwork techniques like Coherence Breathing, Cyclic Sighing, and other styles in combination with new emerging science.

This breathwork course is a combination of +20 years of the principles from traditional martial arts and my venture into modern breathwork methods and the science behind it.

The Framework for Transformation

Over the last 20 years, I have accumulated a lot of experience and lessons from teaching and learning from different teachers. I have traveled the world and spent thousands of hours improving my skills.

But in the end, I couldn’t find the hermit who lived secluded in the mountains and held all the wisdom and secrets. And I certainly haven’t become a hermit myself. To be honest, I don’t believe there’s a secret formula. In the end, it boils down to a simple framework of having a practice – an arena where we can grow.

This framework focuses on these key areas:

  1. Understanding the underlying mechanics of breathing and its connection to our physical and emotional state.

  2. Becoming aware of our breathing in all its nuances.

  3. Learn to control and strengthen your breathing, and have a toolbox of different breathing patterns adaptable to different life situations.

  4. Developing literacy in consciousness through mindfulness.

  5. Practice voluntarily doing uncomfortable things (i.e., ice baths) to overcome limitations. Use this practice as a proxy for deliberate breathing and mindfulness for real-life scenarios where you need to expand your comfort zone.

Viewing breathwork through the lens of an evolving practice puts us on the trajectory of a growth mindset. Life and its challenges become an arena where we practice, and therefore progress is guaranteed.
